A Healthier Whipped Coffee

A Healthier Whipped Coffee

I would be remiss to not say anything at all about what’s happening in our world and pretend like our nation is hunky-dory. But the truth is, it’s not. Everywhere we turn, there seems to be more bad news in the media. And, regardless of

Beef Ramen

Beef Ramen

This ain’t your grandma’s beef ramen. Or should I say, this ain’t the ramen you ate as a poor college student! This is Gourmet-Knock-Your-Socks-Off-Beef-Ramen! Mainly, because I use a Filet Mignon which MAKES the dish! I get a large filet. So, when I slice it

Korean Bowl

Korean Bowl

I just can’t express with words how good this Korean Bowl is! So, I’ll use pictures. I know it just sounds like rice and meat, but it’s so much more! The meat is cooked to perfection in a salty and flavorful soy sauce and served over warm and buttery rice. I, of course, put my healthy spin on it so it’s guilt-free!

I always start by getting all of my ingredients out and washed, so they’re ready to go. I get the rice cooking so it’s ready when the meat and veggies are done. I use short-grain brown rice. I love the chewy bite it has!

Then, I dice up the veggies so they’re ready when I need them. I heat up some oil on my favorite cast-iron skillet, and saute the shallot, garlic, and ginger until soft.

Next, I add in the meat and cook until no pink remains.

Then, I sprinkle on the salt, onion powder, and stir to combine. I pour in the soy sauce and lime juice and simmer and stir until the sauce thickens and completely coats the meat and no sauce remains.

Next, it’s time to plate up! Start with some rice, then top with meat. Garnish with fresh avocado, scallions, and sesame seeds. Drizzle with some Sriracha and you’ve got yourself a very impressive dinner in minutes!

This Korean Bowl is so easy and so flavorful. It will be a fan favorite in your house!

Of course, we all want glowing, beautiful skin. But, I’m a firm believer in living chemical-free as much as possible. So why not use a natural face wash? To make it even better, this face wash is made up of things you, most likely, have in your house and it’s a fraction of the cost of the products you buy on the shelf.

Food Sensitivities & “Trade This for That” Cheat Sheet

Read About My Recent Food Sensitivity Discovery & My “Trade This for That” Cheat Sheet!

Well hello, Friends! As I’m sure you’ve experienced, Instagram has a sneaky way of putting ads in front of you that are so exactly what you need, that you impulse buy every.single.time. Or maybe it’s just me? At any rate, I recently purchased an Everlywell Food Sensitivity Test because, well, while I eat very clean, I get stomach aches super often and very easily. So I thought, why not give it a try?

It was so incredibly easy! I ordered my kit and it arrived a few days later in the mail. I read the directions, poked my finger, dropped some blood on the little test paper thingy, and shipped it back. I had a text a few days later with my results. And, would you believe, I have so many food sensitivities that I would have never thought! I’m sensitive to, pretty much, everything I eat in a day! These are the foods that came back as big no-no’s for me:

My Food No-No List:

  • Peanut Butter (so depressed about this)
  • Almonds (that means almond milk & almond flour)
  • Eggs (like SUPER high on my list)
  • Cow Milk
  • Yogurt
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Soy
  • Gluten
  • Wheat

So, after I mourned the loss of peanut butter, almond meal, and creamer for my coffee, I put a plan into action, as I often do. I plan to do an elimination diet for 30 days and then slowly incorporate foods back in on-at-a-time to see how I react. The big thing for me is my baked goods. I love healthy cookies and breads. So, for the next 30 days, I’ll use ingredients like cashew butter, oat flour, flax eggs, and dairy free milks. Here’s my list of “Trade This for That” foods.

This For That

It’s amazing that it never dawned on me to take a food sensitivity test! I’ve just lived with the discomfort because I eat so “healthy”. It just goes to show that it’s all about your body chemistry and what works, and what doesn’t work! I’m excited to share my new concoctions with you!
