The Perfect Loaded Bunless Burger
The Perfect Loaded Bunless Burger With All the Fixin’s and All the Flavor!
It’s Memorial Day Weekend! We are so thankful for the men and women who have gone before us to give us the freedom we so often take for granted! This also marks the beginning of summer for us! I love holidays because I so love to create festive food and drinks to make the day even more special. So that’s exactly what I plan to do this weekend.
We love a good burger in our house. Especially when the temps are high and we want to grill! My new obsession is ground bison. I discovered it by accident, actually. There was a meat shortage when Covid-19 hit, so I bought bison instead of our usual grass-fed ground beef. And, guess what, I’ll never go back! It’s lean, flavorful, tender, and juicy! The whole family loves it!
The Perfect Burger
So, in honor of the kickoff to grillin’ season, I wanted to share my perfect bunless burger. I keep it simple with the actual burger itself. I divide a pound of meat into 4 equal patties and sprinkle both sides with salt, pepper, and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. That’s it! Then we throw them on the grill and cook to our liking.
The Fixin’s
Now for me, it’s what’s on the burger that’s important. As some of you know, I’ve cut out wheat and gluten for a 30 day elimination diet. So, until I add those foods back, I have been using a sweet potato as the “bun”. Here’s what you do:
Sweet Potato “Buns”
- Preheat the oven to 400*F
- Peel sweet potato and slice into 1/4 inch rounds.
- Place on baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Massage onto rounds until they’re evenly coated.
- Bake for 10 minutes, flip and bake another 10 minutes on the other side.
Other Toppings
I also like to add guacamole, sliced tomato, and lettuce on my burger. Then I use a toothpick to hold it all together. These are so pretty and delicious!
This combo makes for the perfect loaded bunless burger, Regardless of how you celebrate this weekend, I hope it’s relaxing and fills you up heart, belly, and soul! Happy Memorial Day, Friends!
