The Best Sloppy Joes
Sloppy Joes are one of those dinners that are so incredibly easy and perfect for a week night! And these are the best sloppy joes I’ve had to date! The kids love them, and this version has some healthy tweaks that make them guilt-free! As an added healthy option, if I’m trying to avoid too much bread, I serve these on baked russet potatoes. They’re SO good!
I start by dicing up my onion and bell pepper while my dutch oven heats up. If you don’t have a dutch oven, a large nonstick skillet (like my favorite cast iron) will work! Then I cook the ground turkey until there’s no more pink. I add in my diced onion, pepper, and garlic. My secret ingredient is this garlic paste. I adore it. I don’t cut garlic unless I have to! The peppers and onions will start to soften as they cook.
Next up is the ketchup, water, sugar, spices, tomato paste, and Worcestershire! I add everything in and stir to combine. I let that simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring every few minutes until nice and thick.
I either load up a baked russet potato or a toasty kaiser bun. You really can’t go wrong either way! Quick, easy, and flavorful! I hope you enjoy them xoxo
